Overview – Neck Sculpting Surgery
Neck sculpting (sometimes referred to as a neck lift, neck liposuction, cervicoplasty or platysmaplasty), is a surgical procedure that restores a tight, youthful appearance to skin under the chin and neck area which has lost elasticity and exhibits banding, and in this case is performed by liposuction or a combination of procedures.
Description
Neck sculpting is an important procedure for patients of all ages. The aim is not to remove neck wrinkles, which is accomplished with neck lift, but rather to define the neck and chin by removing fat through neck liposuction.
The process relies on removing excess fat in the neck and beneath the chin. This type of procedure is best suited for those that don’t have a wrinkled neck, since a wrinkled neck skin is not likely to be able to contract to accommodate the better sculpted neck and jaw line. Procedure
The procedure involves liposuction to take out excess fat, the weight of which often causes a “hanging neck” which people dislike.
The procedure is done through a fine, very small, hidden incision just below the chin.

The procedure can take from one to two hours. There will be some degree of discomfort following surgery but fortunately little pain. Swelling occurs but usually begins to subside in several days. A degree of swelling may continue for longer periods, but eventually diminishes.
